Hop on your bike and discover the unique charm of Riemst, a true agricultural gem. This short 25-kilometer cycling route takes you through rolling fields, charming farms, and delicious stopovers.
Whether you start in Millen or Herderen, you’ll quickly be greeted by the vast patchwork of farmland that defines Riemst. Villages like Val-Meer and Millen are true farming hubs, filled with historic farmsteads and welcoming local cafés.
A changing landscape every season
In spring, young green crops emerge under the first rays of sunshine. In summer, golden wheat fields and orchards heavy with fruit set the scene. The landscape follows the rhythm of the seasons, and chances are you’ll see local farmers in action. This is a living, ever-changing environment.
Taste the landscape
A newer addition to Riemst’s agricultural scene is viticulture. Between Val-Meer and Elst, keep an eye out for the first vineyards. Further along the route, you’ll find Wine Castle of Genoels-Elderen, where you can enjoy a relaxing summer wine terrace.
A cycling trip for the whole family
This route is also great for a family outing. In Herderen and Millen, you’ll find fun playgrounds where kids can run around. And for a sweet treat, why not make a stop at the authentic goat farm in Membruggen for a delicious ice cream?
